Experience & Field work
One year experience as a GRA at Rutherford County Archives (August 2013-present)
While working at Rutherford County Archives I have learned multiple skills and worked on numerable projects including updating a digital database, conducting research for genealogist, pulling court records, preserving old documents, and creating an exhibit.
Murfree-Patterson Historical House Assessment project (September-December 2013)
This was a group project for my historical preservation class. I was the only researcher on this project and spent several hours in the local archive and deeds office in order to attain a sufficient background for this historical house.
Digital archive internship at Rutherford County Archives(May-August 2013)
This internship consisted of 300 hrs of processing photographs and archiving them into the Rutherford County Archive’s data base for researchers to access. In addition I learned the proper handling of documents, photographs, and negatives.
Heath Department Project (April-June 2013)
This was my individual project for my museum’s class, but also leaked over to part of my internship at Rutherford County Archives. I was in charge of fully processing this collection.
Website curator for Wynnewood Historical House Exhibit (January-May 2013)
I was in charge of developing and designing the online exhibit for the Wynnewood Historical House Exhibit.
Primary Research Project for African American Historical Society (AAHS) Columbia, TN (September-December 2012)
Worked for the AAHS to help find and preserve the history of African Americans that had lived in Columbia, TN. I researched primary documents and created an online exhibit to help display what I found and to expand the AAHS archives.
National Scenic and Historical Trails Apprentice
Served as a youth leader during the 12th conference representing young people ages 18-25 throughout the nation who are interested in promoting and preserving our national trails and history. Conference was help in Missoula, Montana and included leadership, teamwork and service projects.
Historical Documentary - In Pursuit of a Dream by Boston Productions & OCTA
I played a 19th century settler in a documentary of young people following the Oregon Trail
