WELCOME

Welcome to my digital portfolio! My name is Candace Cupps and I am currently a Public History, non-thesis Master’s student at Middle Tennessee State University. With this degree I hope to become a Certified Archivist. I am currently a Graduate Research Assistant at Rutherford County Archives where I am learning firsthand how to work and operate an archive. I have had multiple hands on projects from digital archives to paper conservation.

I began my college very early, taking duel credit history from Paris Junior College in 2007. In 2009 I started full time at Texas A&M-Commerce as a double major in History and English. I have always loved history, but it was not until I took a summer research class in 2011 that I realized there were other careers I could pursue besides teaching. Ever since my eyes have been open to Public History and the amazing ways history can affect the world today.

I was accepted into the Public History Department in the spring of 2012 and began my course work that fall. Through this program I have worked on multiple projects and learned critical skills that will help me land my dream job in the future.
