Electronic Description of Archives

Through my current Electronic Description of Archival Materials course, I am learning how to create finding aids and authority files in EAD, EAC, and MARC. I am also learning archival content standards, such as DACS and ISAD(G), and descriptive standards such as LCSH.

Reference Services

One of the many jobs I do as a Graduate Research Assistant at Rutherford County Archives is to provide assistance to researchers. I aid them by explaining our policies, helping them achieve their personal goals, coping records, and retrieving records from the stacks.

Past Perfect

During a workshop in my Essentials of Museum Management class I learned the basics of the Past Perfect software.

Photoshop

I learned the basics of Photoshop during a class workshop and used these skills to re-size images and piece together old newspapers digitally during my internship.

Paper and Photograph Preservation

Through hands on experiences while working at the Rutherford County Archives I have learned the proper way of handing and preserving paper documents and photographs.
